Last Monday I got a new haircut. It wasn't a happy experience. I'm sure you remember the story of my first ever Chinese haircut and I want to assure you that not every haircut experience has been that way. My 2nd haircut in China was mediocre but then my 3rd try was great! Really one of the best haircuts I've ever had. So of course I didn't blog about it because where's the entertainment in a flattering hairstyle? I went back to that same salon several times and they never let me down.
Then I moved. Now I have to go through the whole process again of trying to find someone who knows how to make my frizzy mess of curls actually look good. The first place I tried did not impress me and I was so disheartened I've been considering just letting my hair grow out but after a month or so of that I remembered what a pain in the butt my hair is and decided I wanted to go back to having less of it.
So, at the recommendation of my colleagues (who do not have curly hair) I went to see Ricky.
To jump to the end of the story, this is what Ricky considers "hao piaoliang!"
Or, as Kitz said when she saw this picture, "Holy 1982!" Kenya's response was "You would think they would notice that you aren't black!"
Yes, I took this with my web cam right after I came home from the salon. You can tell how thrilled I am with my new 'do.
Cheer up, Sharah. Maybe it's not all bad. Let's try it from a different angle.
No. Just no.
In conclusion: yay! a new hat.
